On the screen, it looks about right, but when I try to export my image, parts of it just turn plain white, and other bits go grey. WebProbably lead to some weird effects if you have black in your layer elsewhere. Another workaround seems to be to save the image instead of copying from the browser. Drag the saved file to GIMP or open it as a layer and that appears to maintain the transparency. Right now that last option may be best.
