WebYou guys are probably defining "the left" in two entirely different ways. He is using left in the European sense, which is socialism vs. capitalism.. You're likely using left in the American sense, which is progressivism vs. conservatism.. The NYT is not in any way a socialist publication, so in the European sense it would be a rightwing paper.
