I plan on doing 90 minutes on the Stairmaster with a 30-pound pack at my peak conditioning level. I also do a regular routine of squats, leg presses, and weighted lunges every week. Try to hop on one of those treadmills that allow you to increase the incline. That will mimic the incline of hiking.
